How to extend your Business capsule wardrobe to the Weekend

Knowing how to extend your Business capsule wardrobe makes it work harder.

It also makes weekend dressing easier. Who wants to be elegantly chic during the week
only to dress sloppily on the weekend?

At this time of year it is generally accepted that one can be a little more relaxed in their business attire.
Indeed some entrepreneurial industries and more creative companies actively promote a
less traditional workwear look for everyday.

Business casual or Business relaxed is a more informal way of dressing for business.
If Business smart means formal suits and dresses with tailored jackets, then Business casual is
dresses and separates teamed with knits or less structured jackets. It’s the home of mis-matched
suiting – that means putting a jacket with a dress, skirt or pant that is of a different colour, pattern
or fabric.

Dress Down Friday is also Business casual. It might be heading into the weekend, but it is
not the weekend until the end of the working day!

CWC style tip: When you are at work, whatever day it is, you are ‘in business mode’.
It will always pay to ensure your appearance reflects that.

The great thing about Business casual dressing is that you can extend this look into the evening and weekend.

The first outfit below works with a blue, navy or cream dress. It’s teamed here with a bold
business blue. The dress can be worn on its own for business or social events.

The jacket works well with Summer off-white smart casual trousers and even cropped ones.
It will also look great with jeans from blue denims to white – even coloured ones.

If you keep tops in a fabric such as silk or linen, it keeps the bar raised.
And if you keep accessories of a higher level, your whole look is effortlessly easy.
Relaxed chic. Off-duty but with style.

The next look features a jacquard blazer. Jacquard is a method of weaving used for more
detailed patterns. It’s on trend so wear it now for a fashion-forward look.
The jacket is slightly more casual and looks better open. And again it will take you from work
to the weekend.

For a more casual effect,  push the sleeves up. It gives you a more laissez-faire nonchalant attitude.
